Here Goes Nuffink

October 26, 2007

Colin the Geordie is due here anytime now, then we’re heading to the pub where it’s all gonna happen.

I don’t know quite WHAT’S gonna happen, but it’ll be an adventure at least.

If I can haul my backside 1/2 way across europe to see my favourite band (Iron Maiden, Ed Hunter Tour, September 1999) I’m sure I can play guitar and banjo with a few guys in kent right?

I’ll update soon

Quick Apology

October 25, 2007

Haven’t really done much about Patricks visit today, been a bit under the weather. Thanks to all the people who emailed me, I WILL get back to you, just not as quickly as normal.

Stay Safe

Danny

P.S. Patrick has said he’s happy to travel around a bit by train or whatever, so if you all wanna ship him around the country…….

Patrick In England

October 24, 2007

Well, Patrick’s arriving in England today, and we have NOTHING planned at all. I just got off the phone with Fernando (nice fella) And neither of us have ever organised ANYTHING before, especially at such short notice and on virtually zero budget.

Sot this is what we want from you all. Ideas. Any pubs that might be willing to put up with us, any church halls or conference centres that we could ‘borrow’ for a few hours, even someone with a large house who doesn’t mind hosting it. I think Patrick is staying with Fernando, to start with at least.

Anyone has any suggestions, email me on mad.genius@talktalk.net or click on the contact me thing here on my blog.

What I’ve been thinking and feeling since my last post

October 22, 2007

Alright my one and only reader, bear with me, ‘cos this might be a long one

in no particular order:-

PLECTRUM DEPENDENCY

This seems to be something that I’m suffering from, and probably have been for all of my guitar life. I ADORE Patrick Costello’s lessons (no real secret) but he has (and teaches) a truly fantastic kind of fingerstyle playing that I seem to be physically incapable of grasping. When I’m on top form (not these days but hey) I can be pretty damned impressive with a flatpick, if I do say so myself. I just CANNOT get the bloody right hand down. I can play the basic ‘Bump-Ditty’ (In England it’s ‘Bum-Titty’, but that be more about our national mindset than music) really well with a plectrum, I can barely function with my fingers unless I use the nails of my index finger and thumb as a ‘psuedo plectrum’ (index finger for down, thumb for up) This is probably because I spent my formative musical years as a heavy metal/rock lead guitarist, and those early musical days are very habbit forming.

JAMES PATTERSON THRILLERS

I have been REALLY enjoying his books, especially the ‘Womens Murder Club’ series, just thought I’d mention it.

COMPUTER TROUBLES

I know I’ve said this before but….. INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDERS ARE THE MOST STUPID PEOPLE ON EARTH. I DON’T KNOW WHAT SPECIES THEY ARE, BUT IT IS NOT THE SAME ONE AS ME.

Sorry, that needed to be said. I might give details later, but I don’t have the emotional strength at the moment.

DEPRESSION

I’ve been struggling a bit recently, don’t know why at all, it’s just been a damn hard slog of late. I know this is to all intents and purposes my own little soapbox, but I don’t wanna go on about it, so I’ll leave it their.

MY CAT

Is gonna turn 10 very soon. It only seems like yesterday we got the adorable little psychopath (she sits in the bird bath, I don’t know if she’s got piles and is trying to ease them, or WANTS to get piles) She is entirely black, female (but you guessed that when I said SHE) and we adopted her at the age of 3. She was living with a family that had a kid with learning diffulties (that manifested themselves as severe behavior troubles, and a tendancy to bully the cat) And next door to a lady who worked for the Cat Protection League, who had LOADS of cats, and they had effectivly formed a pack or a pride, the same way wild cats do, and bullied my poor Ozzy (She’s black, and I was going through a Black Sabbath phase waddaya gonna do?) to within an inch or her life. The family VERY reluctantly (the dad, who seemed to be a typical south london hardman type and was probably a hod carrier or something, was apparently crying like a newborn when he handed her over) had to give her up. It scarcely seems like 7 years (this december 24th) we’ve had had the little loony.

She’s my loony tho.

PATRICK COSTELLO VISIT

We didn’t manage to get him over here the same time as Tor and Wolfgang. Here’s a thought, and Ill put in bold so you notice

 WHO CARES

As has been pointed out to me, an instructer is only an added bonus, NOT an essential. And besides, I never set a time table or schedule when I had the initial idea of a few people chipping in to ship the fella over, so what say we all carry on this little ‘Pat Drive’ as if nothing had happened? I’m still well up for it if you all are?

Thats me sone for now

Internet Service Providers are Morons

October 2, 2007

The people I get my phone service from have apparently ‘upgraded’ their lines so that they can ONLY support THEIR broadband. This means that I am having to cancel my considerably superior broadband and be stuck with them!

AAARRRRGGGHHHH!!!!!!!!

I am currently trying to get my wireless router set up with the new(old?) people, get my email sorted, and do it all without swearing at anyone. This is gonna be a long day 😦

I’ll update you all about whatever my new email ends up being as soon as I know myself.

In the meantime if you want to get in touch, leaving a comment here is probably best

WHAT a weekend

October 2, 2007

Well…………………………

My nice relaxing weekend away turned into a bout of prolonged vomiting (thankfully now recovered from) And when I got home I discovered that my old internet service provider has (illegally) disconnected my from my (current) isp, and I am now back with the old ones. Which means I’m at 1/2 speed and tied to the wall with a cable.

Still I am now back (VERY out of touch, sorry) And the upside is that in the looking around for my old modem, I found my microphone which I’ve been looking for for ages.

If some kind soul could tell me quite where we stand in regards to the European Tour I’d apprecciate it, as I have nearly 60 emails to go through.

Also big sorry to Dick and Wolfgang for not being online for the Skype chat yesterday, but I only got back online this morning at about 10:45.

This has all given me a pounding headache. But I think I am to be congratulated for getting through this blog without swearing like a sailor on shoreleave.
